For over 25 years, the Hulbert Outdoor Center has been dedicated to helping people enrich and change their lives through experiential outdoor programs.

From the very beginning, discovering one's inner resources, the meaning of community, and environmental stewardship were fundamental values at the Hulbert Outdoor Center.  These values are passed on today by the talented and compassionate counselors at our Voyageurs Youth Trips camp.

Our passion to provide an educational outdoor experience shines through from every aspect of our trips; from our style of teaching, to the daily routines we establish, to the way trip leaders engage campers in the decision-making process.

Now you can share your passion for adventure by joining a Voyageur's trip.  Kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, backpacking and more!  The reward of every Voyageurs Youth Trip is the journey shared amongst new friends and the learning that occurs along the way.  Be a part of our journey this summer.

The Voyageurs Experience

Group Size
Our trips are small by design.  Every Voyageur's trip has maximum of 10 campers and a minimum of 2 counselors.  Trips involving rock climbing or white water canoeing or kayaking have an additional specialist that manages the activity.  Our small group size allows our staff to provide more individual attention and personalized instruction, while creating an atmosphere where campers have multiple opportunities to interact and truly get to know one another.

Food!
We know that well-nourished campers are more likely to have an enjoyable camping experience.  We strive to create healthy, wholesome, simple meals and we take pride in presenting an exciting menu tailored to each trip.  Every camper is involved in meal preparation helping to create fun, flavorful appetizers, entrees and deserts.   Our family-style meals and community atosphere help to create a strong level of trust that serves as the foundation for all that we do on a trip.

Leading the Adventure
Voyageurs staff are mature, caring, dedicated individuals who have extensive outdoor skills, as well as group leadership and teaching experience.  Safety is our #1 priority during every Voyageur's trip and all of our staff are extensively trained in first aid and emergency evacuation procedures.  Most of our staff are Wilderness First Responders, with over 80-hours of training, while others are Wilderness Emergency Medical Technicians.  In addition, certified lifeguards supervise swimming on every trip.
