The Pre-College Summer Institute at The University of the Arts offers gifted and talented high school students the opportunity to study arts at the college level on an exciting, urban campus. Performing arts offerings include the four-week Musical Theater and Drama programs as well as the two-week Jazz program for voice and instrumental performance and the two-week Dance program. The four-week ArtsSmart program allows students to take courses in a variety of fine arts, crafts and design disciplines. Students in the ArtsSmart program choose four courses, from over fifty offered, which range from Art History, Painting, Drawing and Printmaking to Weaving, Graphic Design, Web Design, Ceramics, Sculpture and a wide rage of digital and traditional Photography options. Media Arts workshops are offered in Animation, Computer Game Design, Digital Filmmaking, Screen Directing, Web Radio and Writing for the Screen.
Optional housing is provided in the University’s apartment-style residence halls. On weekends and evenings students are provided with recreational activities on and off campus. Students may apply for partial scholarships based upon talent and merit. For scholarship applicants, a portfolio/audition, transcript, and a letter of recommendation are required by March 31.
In order to register students must complete a registration form and send in a tuition deposit and housing deposit if applicable. Deadline for deposit is March 31, after that date full payment is required. Final registration deadline is June 1.
