Experience New England Boarding School Life. 5-week Summer Program. The Taft Summer School presents a unique opportunity for enriching young people who have chosen to take advantage of traditional vacation time. Students from all over the world seek out our program for a variety of reasons. Some come to create a firm foundation for the courses that they will take the next fall, while others come to prepare for the challenges of rigorous public and private schools. Others come in order to gain exposure to courses of study not available at their present schools; still others come for the experience of living independently in a diverse and engaging residential community. Whatever their reasons for coming, these students share a desire to spend five weeks improving their academic skills, broadening their knowledge, and having fun. They will be welcomed by faculty members who are selected on the basis of their excellence in teaching, their commitment to young people, and their desire to instill enthusiasm for learning.

While the primary focus is academic, the Taft Summer School offers a great deal more than academic enrichment. Students participate in daily athletics where they can take advantage of Taft's numerous playing fields, and athletic facilities.

Modern studios, labs and theaters offer ample opportunity for artistic expression. Off-campus weekend trips include excursions to New York City, Boston, an amusement park, the ball field, and other places of cultural interest in the Northeast. Free time can mean a student-faculty soccer game, a ping-pong match in the Student Union or a stroll to a downtown movie theater, but it won't mean boredom.

A primary criterion for admission to our programs is a sincere desire to take advantage of all that the Summer School offers. Students who arrive with specific goals and a genuine seriousness of purpose have rarely been disappointed. They depart proud of what they have accomplished, excited by what they have learned, and invigorated by new friendships.
