What is Fireside’s International Leadership Program?

The Fireside International PaddleHead Program is for youth seeking certified skills training in canoe expeditions, environmental studies, and outdoor leadership development.  Youth from across the globe including Canadian youth enroll in our educational and wilderness based program because they seek a safe adventure and an opportunity to grow as an individual.

This 21- day comprehensive leadership program is a chance for youth to explore and discover some of Ontario's most historic voyageur canoe routes including the incredible Killarney, Temagami and Algonquin Parks.

An Overview of the International PaddleHead:

The Fireside International PaddleHead program incorporates traditional canoe expeditions, outdoor leadership training and Leave No Trace camping practices to give participants the experience to become more confident in the outdoors, while experiencing summer in Ontario’s most revered locations.

Youth of all experiences, strengths and backgrounds including ESL youth are encouraged to enroll in this unique program. Participants will foster their relationship with the environment and develop the leadership skills needed to be more self- propelled.

International PaddleHead youth will begin their training at the Rockwood Conservation Area for basic training before heading to Killarney, Temagami and Algonquin Parks. All 21-day program youth must complete a final written and oral leadership exam, canoe paddling competency test, 48 hour solo and a day long community service project.

What is the The Crazy Canuck History Road Trip

youth leadership camps

We are proud to launch our very first 3 province adventure program taking youth from Toronto, to Montreal to Halifax on an historical road trip to some of Canada most scenic locations.

The Crazy Canuck Road Trip is for youth seeking a summer experience that is totally unique, educational and lots of fun. Youth from across the globe including Canada will begin their program in Rockwood, Ontario before embarking on the first ever Canadian historical and educational road trip.

From the pioneer roads of rural Upper and Lower Canada, to the streets of four founding Canadian cities to the shores of Atlantic Ocean youth will explore, discover and learn, hands on, Canadian history.

Fireside Adventures designed this innovative program because parents, educators and youth recognized the decline of appreciation and knowledge of Canadian history, especially in Eastern Canada. We created this program for youth to have a more interactive and hands on experience while invoking a sense of responsibility and curiosity regarding their Canadian roots.

During the day youth will visit famous landmarks, learn Canadian history, meet a number of interesting Canadians and get the ultimate engaging experience of Canada. At night, youth will set up camp, share stories and reflect upon another adventure on their road trip.
