The Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions at NYU Steinhardt offers a wealth of courses and special programs for precollege and undergraduate students and young professional performers throughout the summer in the areas of music performance, music theatre, acting, music technology, and music business. Offerings include:

 

 

 

One- to Three-Week Performance Intensives for advanced high school and college student performers:

-         Classical Brass Workshop (June 12–18, 2009)

-         Spanish Vocal Music Intensive (May 18–June 5, 2009)

-         Broadway Percussion Seminar (June 7–11, 2009)

-         Jazz Guitar Intensive (July 20–August 7, 2009)

-         Solo and Collaborative Piano Workshop (July 20–31, 2009)

-         String Quartet Workshop (June 29–July 18, 2009)

-         Woodwind Quintets and Orchestral Repertoire Workshop (June 20–28, 2009)

 

 

 

-         Summer on Broadway: Music Theatre Workshop, a three-week intensive for precollege and college-level performers (June 29–July 17, 2009)

 

 

 

-         What Makes a Star: Music Business Summer Institute for high school students. Spend a week in New York City learning from professional star makers in the music business (July 6–17, 2009)

 

 

 

-         Summer Institute in Music Technology, a two-week workshop for high school students who wish to learn the fundamentals of music technology (July 6–17, 2009)

 

 

 

-         Looking for Shakespeare: high school students work with a professional director and NYU Steinhardt graduate students to stage an original production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night's Dream (June 29–July 26, 2009)

 

 

 

-         Interactive Multimedia Performing Arts Collaborative Technology (IMPACT) workshop: Three-week intensive experience through collaborations in dance, music, multimedia, and arts technology (July 20August 7, 2009)
