The summer music education program is held on the Campus of the University Of Wisconsin - Superior. The N.Y.M.P. is not a UWS porgram. The concert band program offers students opportunities to experience high quality large ensemble and small ensemble music. Students spend their day taking part in large concert band, woodwind or brass choir, percussion ensemble, and other small special ensembles. The students also take part in classes during the day including basic musicianship and listening. Maximum enrollment per week for this program is 200 students. The choral program includes mixed choir, mens and womens choir, along with small group. The choir program provides participants experience in a broad range of music from classical, gospel, jazz, and folk. Maximum enrollment per week for this program is 125 students. Jazz program offers students an opportunity to learn about jazz music and play in jazz and big band ensembles. Students that would like to try their hand at small ensembles can sign up to play in jazz combos. All instruments, including all strings, are welcome at the jazz program. Maximum enrollment per week for this program is 150 students. * percussion students must have played set in school or had one year of private lessons to play set in a jazz band. Students with less experience may attend playing ancillary percussion instruments while learning the basics of drum set performance during their week in attendance. Every night there are activities for the students to take part in including: swimming, Wednesday night cook out and jam session, and many other activities. These activities are optional for commuter students but are mandatory for on campus students. Weekly classes include: music history, listening, theory, ear training, improvisation (during jazz weeks), sight reading, and other classes. The 2009 early registration tuition is $120 per week until May 15th. Tuition goes up to $185 per week after. Students can attend one or all four weeks. A $25 deposit for each week attending should accompany the registration form. You may pay the rest of the fees at registration Sunday. There is tuition assistance available. There are two students per room. An on campus fee of $75 per week is also paid by on campus students to cover the cost of the counseling staff, activities, and meals that are provided by the N.Y.M.P. for on campus students. Total on housing and campus fee is $142.50 Food Service, on campus students will use the UWS foods service. The cost is $94.55 per week. The cost includes five breakfasts, five lunches, four suppers(On campus students have Wednesday night cook out, and Sunday registration pizza supper provided by the N.Y.M.P.). Total cost of being an on campus student is $357.05 if registered prior to May 15 2009 Commuter students registered prior to May 15, 2009 your cost is $120 tuition fee.
