ISLS has put together a fun and adventurous Spanish Summer Abroad Camp for teens in Costa Rica & Mexico. We have three camp locations. Playas Dominical and Tamarindo is Costa Rica and Puerto Escondido, Mexico. Playa Dominical is located on the central Pacific coast of Costa Rica in the tropical rainforest. There are toucans in the trees, iguanas on the beach and monkeys in the forest surrounding the small pueblo of 800 permanent residents. Playa Tamarindo is located on the Northern Pacific Coast and is one of Costa Rica’s most popular beach and surf spots, and just a short distance from another famous surf spot, Playa Grande. It is a dry forest area and the main beach is about a mile long crescent of sparkling white sand. Puerto Escondido is located at the southern end of the Mexican Riviera, just south of Acapulco on the Pacific side. There are seven sun drenched, white sand beaches in and around the town, including the World Famous Mexican Pipeline at Playa Zicatela. There are about 10,000 residents and the main trade is fishing. While on the program, students will be housed in resort hotels. Hotel Villas Rio Mar, is the nicest hotel/resort in the Dominical area. Hotel Tropicana in Playa Tamarindo is a great facility across the street from the main beach. In Puerto Escondido the Hotel Santa Fe is a beautiful old Colonial style hotel steps from the beach. Students from ages 14 to 17 are eligible to participate in this two week program. There are three specific aspects to this program; Spanish classes, surf lessons and adventure activities. Spanish classes are taught be degreed local teachers who specialize in teaching Spanish as a second language. The surfing part of the program will be handled by professional instructors from local surf schools. There will be three two hour lessons during each program. Those students who are experienced surfers will be taken out by their instructor to see that they get acquainted with their new surroundings. The adventure aspect of the program will be full of activities that are physically exciting and challenging. The different camp locations have different activities. Here is a list of some of the activities; white water rafting, zip lining through the forest canopy, horseback riding, snorkeling, sea kayaking, visit to tropical islands and hiking in rainforest national parks. We have over 15 years of experience with students attending our programs in Costa Rica. The price of this program is $3200 USD and includes all of the following: Airfare from selected hubs in the continental United States, all activities and tours, three surf lessons, use of surfboards, lodging, meals (3/day), instruction, materials, classes, transportation, comprehensive health insurance and bilingual guides. Students need very minimal spending money as all essentials are covered. Enrollment is limited so space fills up fast. We have an early sign up special. If you sign up for one of our camps before January 1st, 2006, you get a $200 discount off the overall camp price. For more information ...
