Learn Spanish in Costa Rica! If you’re between 13 and 18, come to Costa Rica this summer and do zip-lining and rafting, go on a Tarzan swing, do a high ropes course, explore some natural hot springs, hike through the rainforest, ride horses in the jungle, see gigantic waterfalls, sea turtles and crocodiles, explore volcanoes and get to know the abundant wildlife and landscapes this small country possesses.
Monday to Friday, you will receive 4 hours of intensive Spanish classes in our air-conditioned classrooms, where each teacher will have no more than 6 students. You will be amazed by how much Spanish you will learn in a short time. At night, you will practice your Spanish with your new “Tico” (Costa Rican) family, or have them help you with your homework or studies. At school, you will have many other opportunities to apply the language while learning how to cook a typical dish, practicing your new Salsa steps or watching a movie in Spanish.
Camp staff consists of two chaperones (one native English-speaker and one Costa Rican), school administrative support staff, Teen Program Coordinators, Latin dance and cooking teachers, experienced tour guides, and highly qualified Spanish teachers. All Spanish professors have a Bachelor's degree in Education, Literature, and/or Linguistics (most hold a Post-Graduate Certificate in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language); our senior staff also have their Master's degree in the same field. All Spanish teachers are native speakers with ample experience in teaching Spanish as a second language, and they all receive continuing education at university seminars and conferences on language acquisition. Most importantly, our Teen Camp Spanish teachers are trained in adolescent pedagogical methods and utilize Intercultura's own course texts and materials, which have been carefully developed for teen learners.
Intercultura's 2011 Summer Spanish & Adventure Camp lasts for two or four weeks. The session costs $2100 all inclusive for 2 weeks: airport pick-up and drop-off, chaperones and guides, Spanish classes, lodging, all meals, snacks, activities, entrance fees, and tours by bus and boat (airfare to and from Costa Rica is not included). Multiple-student/session and need-based financial assistance is available.

You will get the opportunity to see an almost perfectly symmetrical volcano, Arenal, the cloud forests of Monteverde, the magical turquoise waters of Rio Celeste, the jungle, waterfalls and hot-springs of the National Park Rincon de la Vieja or the rocky landscape and the crashing waves of Montezuma, where you may spot humpback whales on your way to Isla Tortuga…
This camp is like no other!
