iD Visual Arts Teen Summer Camps in NY

2-week Program in Film Production and Professional Photography

Love taking photos or making movies?  Imagine having two whole weeks of opportunity to engage in creative expression.  At iD Visual Arts Academy, you’ll have the chance to explore historic cities and college campuses, scouring landscapes for the perfect photo or film backdrop.  Beginner to advanced students foster creativity and use industry-standard products like Photoshop, Lightroom, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, high-end camcorders, and more.  Build your portfolio and let your creative side shine through photography or filmmaking.

Fun, artistic courses let you dive into a variety of photography or filmmaking interests.  From the intro course iD Film Studios 101 to more advanced courses, choose from one of the following three options:

• iD Film Studios 101

Explore documentary filmmaking from pre-production through post-production in a creative, stimulating setting in California or New York.   Build shot lists, experiment with filming techniques on high-end video cameras, interview on-location and edit with the industry standard Final Cut Pro.  At the end, take home your documentary on DVD.

• Visual FX with Final Cut Pro and Adobe  After Effects

Designed for students with prior film editing experience, this course lets you develop your own visual effects reel as you delve deep into the best practices of Hollywood post production houses.  Capture your own footage utilizing green screens and pro-level video cameras and then learn to composite media in 2D and 3D space, create motion graphics with animated text, distort footage, and perform many other creative feats with Final Cut Pro and After Effects.  Graduate with a polished, professional-looking VFX reel.

• Professional Photography

Learn the advanced technical features of a DSLR camera by finding the balance between light, composition, exposure, shutter speed, aperture and raw vs. JPG to create stunning digital images.  Polish your portfolio by editing your photos in Photoshop and Lightroom.  Leave camp with your own photography portfolio.
