Exploration Summer Programs on the campuses of Yale University, Wellesley College, + St. Mark’s School: courses, activities, athletics, trips, and friendships that open your eyes to things new and different. Exploration Summer Programs is three different Programs, each suited to the unique developmental needs of the students that the Program serves: The Senior Program on the campus of Yale University for students entering grades 10-12 The Intermediate Program on the campus of Wellesley College for students entering grades 8+9 The Junior Program on the campus of St. Mark's School for students entering grades 4+5, 6+7 You'll find Explo to be the perfect place for you to gain independence, explore new interests, and tackle ideas and subjects beyond the bounds of most typical school environments. While you are here, you'll engage in innovative courses and activities as you learn about things that YOU want to learn about. Students from more than 40 states and 40 countries come to Exploration each summer because they are interested in learning. At Exploration, our courses are ungraded and pressure-free, so you are encouraged to try academic fields and extracurricular activities that are new and interesting to you. This is the place to try marine biology for the first time, or to solve a crime using forensic science, or to learn to play ultimate frisbee, or to perform a Broadway routine in front of an audience. You will feel comfortable trying new things and expanding your horizons, because everyone here is trying new things and expanding their horizons. You'll be led by a faculty comprised of current and recent college students from some of the country's top colleges and universities. Supported by a network of full-time, professional educators, our faculty members are your instructors in the classroom, your advisors in the dorm, and your coaches in extracurricular activities. You will see them everywhere and be inspired by their energy and enthusiasm. At Exploration, we see every moment in the day as a teaching moment, and our faculty is there to provide you with a solid foundation of support and encouragement. Your day at Exploration is designed to let you make the most of your time. You’ll take two academic courses, choosing from over 80 different subjects such as Comic Book Art, the Chemistry of Smell, Video Production, and Model United Nations. Outside of your classes, you have even more choices about how to spend your day, as Exploration sponsors a variety of different athletics, activities, and special events from which you can pick and choose. On weekends, you have the opportunity to choose from a number of trips throughout the Northeast. See the Blue Man Group. Go to a Red Sox game at Fenway Park. Canoe on the Charles River. Visit the Science Museum. Ride a rollercoaster at Six Flags New England. Hike Mount Monadnock. And more! While there is no typical student that attends Exploration, there is one common strand that holds the Explo community together: a love of learning. As a self-selected group, our student body has chosen to spend their summer at Exploration because they want to learn. This student enthusiasm, coupled with the Explo's fun and exciting programming, creates the perfect environment for you to have a fantastic summer of Exploration.
