For more than 44 years, Roaring Brook Camp has been devoted to teaching outdoor sports, Vermont crafts and conducting backpacking and canoeing trips. Self-reliance, resourcefulness and will-to-achieve center the camp's philosophy. Located on a 650 acre forest preserve, Roaring Brook is an ideal setting for boys who wish to experience a fun and exciting summer adventure.
Roaring Brook's 4-week program, includes 12 days of backpacking and canoeing in addition to in-camp activities and special events. The 2-week program focuses on in-camp activities and optional day trips. A 2-week session can be combined with the 4-week session to create a 6-week camp.
Each boy selects his activities daily during the camp program. This encourages self-motivation and responsibility for personal productivity in a small group setting. At Roaring Brook, we believe the most effective way of learning is by doing.
Instruction is individualized, based upon ability and interest. The program features rock climbing, rappelling, a ropes course and tyrolean traverse, survival training, woodworking, blacksmithing, leatherwork, fly-tying, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, marksmanship, and archery.
The outdoor skills program includes outdoor cooking, orienteering, toolcraft, marlinspike, woodsman's skills, leave no trace camping techniques, outdoor safety and first aid. Several special event days complete each camper's adventure.
