Catalina Island Camps provides unique opportunities for children to develop life long skills in a fun and cooperative group living environment. Established in 1922.

Catalina Island is a fantastic place to develop an appreciation of the natural environment. Our nature program focuses campers' attention on the unique ecosystem of Howlands Landing. We stress the connections between plants and animals and the relationship between humans and the environment and our need to be stewards to preserve our special place in the world.

The Program
Catalina Island Camp is designed around a two-week session. We have found that during the first week of camp, children become comfortable with the facility, people and camp program and during the second week of the session, they have a chance to learn more about who they are through living with others and participating in a positive group process. The CIC program blends individual success with group participation.

Campers begin their second week selecting their badgework activities. Badgework is an opportunity to earn camp badges recognizing greater skill development in specific activities. It is also a time where boys and girls of all ages come together to do activities at the same time increasing their circle of friends at camp. Badgework activities include sailing, skin diving, water-skiing, wakeboarding and kneeboarding, kayaking, climbing, ropes course, archery, gardening, tide pooling, riflery and photo journalism.

Facilities
Catalina Island Camps is located at Howlands Landing, a private cove on the leeward side of beautiful Catalina Island. Within our sheltered cove, our pier extends into the bay providing the focal point for swimming, boating and other water activities. On shore, our main lodge contains the camp store and food service center, which faces the shaded Dining Terrace. Rustic bunkhouses and open-sided chalets are located on each side of the Dining Terrace and along the shore.
