Camp Hawkeye is located in a beautiful area of North Central New Hampshire; more than 100 acres of forest, meadow, and waterfront provide the backdrop for an unforgettable summer experience. Hawkeye offers a variety of activities ranging from swimming and boating, to husbandry and hiking trips, to sports and drama. Camp Hawkeye is a traditional style overnight coed summer camp for 8-16 year olds that offers a diversity aspect not found in other camp communities. We are committed to providing an environment that includes campers and staff from myriad backgrounds and income levels. Our trip based program focuses on weekly out of camp experiences for each cabin group in and around the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Program Areas Boating. Campers learn the skills and safety precautions for properly and safely piloting a variety of water craft. The three types of boats that are most important at Hawkeye are the canoe, the kayak, and the sailboat. Expeditions. Camp Hawkeye operates a trip-based program centered around weekly out-of-camp expeditions for each and every cabin group. Campers learn valuable outdoor skills each week during pioneering periods with one of our experienced trip leaders. Each group spends time choosing and planning for their hiking or canoeing trips. The trips range from day, overnight, or multiple day. These wilderness trips are excellent ways for the campers to learn an appreciation for nature and a key part in confidence and community building.
Archery. Campers not only learn the terminology, safety expectations and precautions associated with this skill, but they also learn the focus and patience required to successfully hit the target. Nature. This program combines elements of investigation and children’s natural curiosity with scientific background and knowledge from ecology, biology, chemistry, physics and ecosystem level processes. Woodsmanship. Campers learn to care for the trees around them. They learn to identify sick, dead or dying trees and the proper techniques for trimming or harvesting trees for firewood and safety purposes as well as for the general health of the forest. Woodworking & Arts/Crafts. Campers learn safety precautions, safe handling techniques, and proper usage of a range of hand tools. Opportunities for drawing, weaving, tie-dying, silk screening, and photography. For more information ...
