65+ Daily Activities, Weekly Special Events, Camp Trips, Inter-Camp Games and a FUN Evening Activity every night of the summer!  It's the BEST!!!

For 51 summers Camp Lohikan has been operated by the Buynak Family.  Since 1957 we have provided children with a safe, supportive environment where they have tried new activities, learned new skills, made new friends, and experienced success!  At the end of each summer campers return home feeling better about themselves, more self confident and better prepared to take on new adventures.  It's a great experience for kids!

65+ DAILY ACTIVITIES: The daily program offering at Lohikan is awesome.  With 65+ daily activities to choose from, campers will always find something exciting that will engage them and maintain their interest.  We provide instruction in all of the activities and campers earn certifications which track their skill progression.  Daily Activities include: Swimming (heated pool), Tennis, Gymnastics, Jet Skiing, Water Skiing, Horseback Riding, Paintball, ATV/Quad Riding, Sailing, Windsurfing, Canoeing, Other Lake Activities (i.e., Tarzan Swing, Rave Trampoline, Rolling Water Log, Lake Iceberg, Paddle Boating, Kayaking, Fishing), Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Flag Football, Soccer, Roller Hockey, Golf, Volleyball, Circus Arts (12 workshops), Flying Trapeze, Dance, Drama, Music (guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, voice), Skateboarding, In-Line Skating, Archery, Riflery, Weight-Training & Fitness, High & Low Ropes Course, Rock Climbing, Creative Arts (14 workshops), Woodworking, Ceramics, Pottery, Rocketry, Radio Broadcasting, Video Production, Computers, E-Mail, Mountain Cycling, Mountain Boarding, Hiking, Wrestling, Martial Arts, Photography, Woodworking, Rocketry, Pottery/Ceramics, T-Shirt Factory, Cooking, and more!

JUNIOR PROGRAM (9 and younger): Junior campers travel as a cabin group with their cabin counselor to activities designed for their age group. Certain activity sites offer electives which allows the juniors some choice in their programming. Counselors are specially chosen for their experience and ability to work with younger campers.

INTER/SENIOR PROGRAM (10 and older): Older campers get to choose all of their activities at Lohikan. Activities are chosen on a weekly basis and adjusted daily. You can adjust your schedule to travel with friends or specialize in as many activities as you want. The choice is yours!

TEEN PROGRAM: The individualized format of our daily program is ideal for teens. In addition to the free choice, activities are coed for teenagers. Certain evening activities and special events are also geared for our oldest campers like: Senior Beach Parties, DJ Disco Extravaganzas, Socials, Senior Trips, Extended Curfew and Snack Bar/Game Room time, Lohikan’s Camp-A-Palooza Concerts, and lots more! Teenagers who want to continue their camping experience can join our junior staff program and participate in our leadership training course which after 2 summers of participation will guarantee them a full staff position at camp the following summer.

CAMP STAFF: When it comes down to it, camp staff is what a successful camp is all about. A great camp experience is only possible with great camp staff. This is where we shine! Our 50+ senior staff members are adult professionals who assume supervisory responsibilities in camp and at least 90% return every summer. Our in-cabin counselors are college-enrolled staff members who return at a rate better than 50%. Ninety percent of our staff are Americans who are recruited across the United States for their skills, experience and ability to work with children. The other 10% of our staff are from Canada, Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand.  All staff members are interviewed, references contacted and criminal background checks performed. During our pre-camp orientation period staff members are certified in safety procedures, qualified for instructional responsibilities and trained in Lohikan’s operational procedures so as to maintain the supportive, nurturing camp environment that has characterized Camp Lohikan since its beginning.

MEDICAL STAFF: A camp physician is in residence the entire summer. In addition to the camp doctor, 5 registered nurses and 3 assistants staff the camp health center which is open 24 hours a day.

FIRST-TIME CAMPER PROGRAM: First-time campers are our specialty! We have a comprehensive program designed to make the first-time camp experience an easy and ultimately successful endeavor. We even offer first-time camping families a unique camp guarantee which provides for a tuition refund if the camper leaves camp early. Details of Lohikan’s First-Time Camper Program are available at http://www.lohikan.com.

CAMP FACILITIES: Camp Lohikan is situated on a mountain top and overlooks our private lake and miles of pristine Pocono Mountain landscape.  We own over 1200 acres and are bordered on all sides by preserved land.  The natural beauty of the site makes it the ideal location for a summer camp!
Camp facilities feature a spacious dining hall, air conditioned infirmary, a private lake, heated swimming pool, 30 horse stable, indoor and outdoor riding rings (We even ride when it rains!), over 7 miles of horse trails, 11 tennis courts with lights, indoor and outdoor basketball courts (4) with lights, 4 regulation sport fields, indoor roller hockey rink, 10,000 sq. ft. skate park (filled with ramps, rails, boxes etc.) over 40,000 sq. ft. of indoor activity facilities, 2 paintball fields with lights, circus performance building with indoor and outdoor flying trapeze, performing arts center, amphitheater, creative arts center with 14 workshops, woodworking building, ceramics/pottery building, dance studio, music room, sand volleyball court, archery & riflery ranges, fitness center, outdoor challenge course with a 40’ climbing tower, 2 zip lines and 15 high and low rope elements, and more!

Camper cabins are modern and include bathrooms (with private, individual stall showers), windows with screens, porches with lights, and plenty of electrical outlets.

ENROLLMENT SESSIONS: Our summer season is 54 days and many of our campers enroll for the entire season.  We realize that family plans many times necessitate shorter sessions so we have designed our program to accommodate 8, 6, 4 and 2 week enrollments in addition to the full season enrollment.

ROOKIE CAMP: After the regular camp season ends, we operate a One-Week Mini-Camp (August 21st - August 27th) which features 20+ daily activities (i.e., arts, sports & adventure activities plus horseback riding, jet skiing, ATV/quad riding, paintball) and is a great program to introduce the short session camper to all of the fun of the sleep-away camp experience!
