Established in 1993, Camp Kirk sits on 110 acres near the village of Kirkfield, Ontario.  While Camp Kirk welcomes children with learning disabilities, AD(H)D, and those who have incontinence and/or enuresis (bedwetting) issues, it does not offer a clinical setting and therefore, we cannot accept children who require primarily one-on-one supervision or have a history of chronic behaviour disorder. Like most organizations, we do adhere to a very strict low tolerance policy when it comes to violent or aggressive behaviour.

The Facility
The facilities at Camp Kirk are truly second to none. They include, amongst other things, an awesome swimming pool equipped with a diving board and a slide, two 40'(foot) climbing walls complete with overhangs and a basketball court.  Our dining room has a wonderful fireplace and operates in a family style where each cabin group has it’s own table.  We also have a large recreation building used for various types of activities rain or shine.  Periodically, canoe trips are sent to Algonquin Park, the Leslie Frost Centre and other wilderness areas of Ontario.

Activities
A mixture of both hands-on and physical activities will strongly benefit children with learning disabilities and particularly those with AD(H)D. Exercise helps in the production of natural brain chemicals, leaving children more focused. In addition, activities that promote strong self-control help children develop mental readiness. With well coached activities such as MARTIAL ARTS, SWIMMING, ARCHERY, ECOLOGY, CAMP CRAFTS, ROCK CLIMBING WALLS and CHALLENGE ROPES COURSES, they develop self-discipline and, in doing so, curtail impatience and impulsivity. Some campers prefer to express themselves creatively through DRAMA, CERAMICS. ARTS & CRAFTS and SING SONGS.
