Camp Diamond is a traditional overnight and day camp for girls ages 4-16. We are located approximately 2.5 hours north of Toronto and 3 hours west of Ottawa in the Haliburton Highlands area of Ontario. We offer a range of programs including arts and crafts, archery, basketball, canoeing, dramatic arts, environmental studies, nature hikes, special events, sailing, swimming, camping trips and much more. Every Wednesday is our special day complete with breakfast in bed, and a surprise theme all camp activity. Throughout all of these different program areas, we focus on providing the girls an opportunity to develop independent thinking skills, problem solving skills; improve their self-awareness, self-confidence and self-esteem; and increase their empathy of others in their community. Day campers and overnight campers participate in the same activity schedule. Girls ages 4-8 travel in groups to scheduled activities, while girls 9+ choose their own schedule during breakfast each morning. Girls live in cabins of 4-6 campers within the same age range. Campers can request to live with friends, and we try our very best to accommodate these requests. However, please understand that sometimes these arrangements cannot be made. The girls will have an opportunity to see each other as cabins are arranged in a circle. Each cabin is assigned a staff counsellor who is in charge of their supervision and well-being. These staff live in adjoining cabins so they are available at all times. Each rustic cabin has electricity and is a short walk to our washroom facilities where the campers will find flush toilets, sinks and showers. Meals take place in our communal dining hall overlooking the beautiful crystal clear Big Harding Lake. Here the campers enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening snack. All meals are freshly prepared by our in house cooks and we follow the Canada Food Guide and serve 100% whole grain breads, local fruits & vegetables and 100% meat products (No "mystery meat"). Milk, water and juices along with fresh fruit are available all day. Campers and staff are encouraged to bring water bottles, or purchase them at the tuck shop, to carry with them so they stay hydrated. The Day at the Diamond camp program allows cottagers and local residents the opportunity to enjoy activities from 8:30 to 4:30 Monday to Friday. Lunch is included and every day camper is assigned a cabin to store their personal items in. Extended days are available at an additional cost. Our staff consist of high school and college/university students and professionals. Each one has been certified in Standard First Aid & CPR C, and have been through a rigourous interview process including reference checks and a background check with Vulnerable Sector Search. Staff come from all over the world, with most coming from Canada and Europe. Orientation is mandatory for all staff and includes 2 weeks of intense training and team building activities. Join us for the summer of your life! Learn about yourself, make new friends and gain life changing skills. For more information ...
