UNFORGETTABLE JOURNEYS

School vacations are both a time to take a break from routines and an opportunity to move beyond the classroom and explore life through experience. Brighton international programs are tailored for high school students who want to take advantage of spring and summer break to travel with people their own age, develop fluency in foreign languages, and experience new places and cultures in ways that move beyond tourism.

This summer, we hope you’ll do more than visit another country. We invite you to sit down to breakfast with your Spanish family, try your hand at making paella, or visit some of the most beautiful areas of Spain with new friends from around the US. Spanish language and community service is also available in Coronado, Costa Rica. These are the kinds of daily experiences that bring busy lives back into perspective, develop confidence and turn a summer trip into an unforgettable, life-changing journey.

Compare Brighton travel and study abroad programs with even less complete trips costing $1,500-$3,000 more, and you’ll discover that Brighton programs are the best value in summer study abroad.

MADRID

All of Brighton’s Spanish immersion programs in include three nights in Madrid and transportation to and from the program location by train or private coach. Each day features a full schedule of visits, free time to explore independently, and special evening events. Highlights of our exploration of the capital include the Palace Real, the Pardon Museum , the Reyna Sofia Museum , Plaza Mayor, an Open-air bus tour, Retire Park , and the Plaza del Sol.

PROGRAM LOCATIONS

Granada
The Andalusia Experience

Granada is beautifully situated between the dramatic peaks of the Sierra Nevada and the fertile farmlands of the Vega de Granada that stretch out at its feet—an ideal location from which to explore Andalusia and the nearby Costa del Sol. This ancient city is home to ’s greatest monument of Moorish culture, the Alhambra Palace and the historic Abaci quarter where daily language courses are held. Though this 18-day home stay program is our most compact language immersion itinerary in Spain, a visit to the capital of Madrid, a weekend trip to the Costa del Sol, two weeks of language courses and a full schedule of activities and tours add up to a remarkably comprehensive and immersive Spanish experience.

Ronda—The Enchanted City

Even for Spaniards, Ronda is a particularly magical place. The city sits perched like a vision atop a sheer cliff 300 feet above the Andalusia plains. Its central location just above the Costa del Sol makes Ronda a wonderful location from which to explore the great cities, mountains, countryside and resort beaches of Andalusia . Featuring four weeks of home stay immersion and 80 hours of Spanish instruction provided by the University of Malaga , Ronda is Brighton ’s most comprehensive Spanish language program. It’s the ideal location for those students who want to combine a fun summer adventure with a program that guarantees maximum gains in confidence and fluency in Spanish. An optional afternoon AP tutorial program is an added attraction for students planning on sitting for the AP Spanish exam. One year of previous Spanish study is required for this program.

Granada to Barcelona—A Spanish Odyssey

This second extended session of Brighton’s language immersion program in Granada features a third week of home stay immersion and Spanish courses, weekend travel to the Costa del Sol and Seville and a five-day travel extension to and Barcelona . Our visit to Madrid and three weeks of Spanish immersion and exploration in Andalusia provide the ideal primer for this final week of travel up the Mediterranean coastline, along the " Orange Blossom Coast " of del Zahra. For students who want it all, this program offers a truly comprehensive Spanish experience—a chance to explore the capital, an immersive language program and home stay, visits and activities throughout Andalusia , and an unforgettable final week traveling with friends.

COSTA RICA
Coronado A City in the Clouds

Although is smaller than the state of West Virginia , the country’s eco-diversity and natural beauty are unparalleled. The city of Coronado, just east of San Jose, sits amongst a beautiful forest of mountains and farms overlooking San Jose—an amazing location for hiking, mountain biking and immersion in the Spanish language and authentic Costa Rican culture.

Join Brighton students from across the and abroad in Coronado this summer to develop new friendships, improve your Spanish language skills and make a real difference in young peoples’ lives through reforestation projects and ecological education programs in local elementary schools. A three-day travel extension to the Adrenal volcano and a beach resort on the Pacific coast caps a Costa Rican experience that you’ll never forget. Choose from two- or four-week sessions (40 – 80 hours of Spanish instruction and 20 – 40 hours of certified community service).
