ACTeen (established in 1978) is the nation’s first film acting academy for teens. ACTeen is recommended by more than 30 New York City talent agents and managers. Hundreds of ACTeen graduates have achieved successful careers in film, television, and the theater.  ACTeen graduates have starred on TV series ("One Tree Hill", "Friday Night Lights", "That 70’s Show", "Charmed", "The Sopranos", "According to Jim", "My Boys", "Sabrina") each of the last ten years. Many alumni acquired their professionalism, and first representation through ACTeen’s industry showcases.

Summer Film Acting Academy
Classes are offered in four distinct summer academies (June, July, August, and Saturday Academies). Please check our web site for dates and deadlines.

ACTeen accepts dedicated pre-professionals and develops them into technically proficient, versatile, marketable actors. By combining a theatrical discipline with spontaneous, effective on-camera acting techniques, students learn to successfully navigate both film and theater media with skill and professionalism.

Courses-- As industry leader, ACTeen is dedicated to offering the most comprehensive and professional theater and on camera film acting curriculum in New York. Over 16 challenging electives include: Film Acting & Audition Technique, Film Scene Study , Script Analysis, Characterization, Theater, Meisner Technique, Alexander Technique, Speech, Voice, Commercial Auditioning, Improvisation, Shakespeare, Modern Drama, Monologues, Musical Theater, Physical Storytelling, Directing, and Script Writing.

Staff- exemplary and includes adults from professional acting, directing, and casting backgrounds. Most also teach in colleges, universities, and other acting conservatories. Full-time ACTeen students work with 6 to 8 different experienced instructors as well as special guest artists. The small class size enables a close personal relationship between students and faculty members. Teachers work creatively to tailor film scenes and exercises to challenge every student.

Location--near Rockefeller Center and New York’s Broadway Theater district, ACTeen is convenient to all major transportation hubs. Classes are held in seven multi-camera studios. Summer students come to ACTeen from across the United States and overseas.

Application--ACTeen requires a submitted application (available at our web site) followed by an on site audition/interview. Students applying outside the NYC area may apply via the "Long Distance Application" found at our Admissions Page. Students must be 18 yrs. old by the summer to qualify for suggested off-site housing. Apply early
